Romance Variations

A Longbourn Entanglement by Monica Fairview

After reading Home for Christmas, I went back to reading about Elizabeth and Darcy in A Longbourn Entanglement. I enjoy my Pride and Prejudice variations so I went on a binge in December. I had read Monica Fairview’s Dangerous Magic back in May so I thought I would like this one.

This variation, unlike Dangerous Magic, does not have a magic component. Instead, it picks up the morning after the Netherfield Ball. Mr. Darcy tries to convince Mr. Bingley to leave as Mr. Darcy feels that he’s being seduced by Miss Elizabeth’s fine eyes. But as he’s talking to Bingley, Mr Collins arrives on the scene.

At Longbourn, when Lydia discovers that Elizabeth will be mistress of Longbourn if she marries Mr. Collins, she conspires with Mrs. Bennet to interrupt the proposal. That sets off a series of misunderstandings, making it almost a comedy of errors.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In A Longbourn Entanglement, Mr. Darcy stays to help Miss Elizabeth after a misunderstanding. How does that change our story? Read and find out.

A Longbourn Entanglement is a variation that I had not read before. It epitomizes the saying “Oh what tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive.” I must say I much prefer Dangerous Magic to this one. I’m not sure what it is about this one that didn’t strike the right cord with me, but it was not my favorite. It is available on Kindle Unlimited.
