I continued through my Pride and Prejudice variations binge with As Only Mr Darcy Can. Laura Hile was a new author to me, but the blurb on Amazon intrigued me.
This variation picks up after Christmas as Mr. Darcy is in London. While visiting his tobacconist, he sees these Valentine cards. On an impulse, he buys ten of them. Regretting that he hadn’t warned Miss Elizabeth about Wickham, Mr. Darcy sends her a Valentine from an Admirer with a verse to warn her.
Elizabeth receives three or four Valentines before traveling to Hunsford. One change from canon in this one is that Lydia travels to Hunsford with Elizabeth and Georgiana is at Rosings with both Colonel Fitzwilliam and Mr. Darcy.
Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In As Only Mr Darcy Can, Lieutenant Wickham must flee Meryton as a warrant for his arrest has been made. What happens to him and how does that impact our dear couple? Why does Elizabeth feel that Darcy is the only one in which she can confide? Read and find out.
As Only Mr Darcy Can is a variation unlike any other I’ve ever read. While not in my top favorites of variations, this one is a very good story. It definitely is unique in plot involving Mr Wickham. This one is available on Kindle Unlimited.
