I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Born in Death follows the short story, Haunted in Death. This one has multiple mysteries that end up intertwining.
After learning about the series the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I have needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these.
In this book, it’s the final countdown for Mavis to have her and Leonardo’s baby. Eve and Roarke learn about being one of her coaches, even though they really, really, really don’t want to. While at one of the classes, they meet one of Mavis’s pregnant friends, who later goes missing. Mavis, of course, only wants Eve on the missing person’s case, even though it’s not a homicide.
Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Born in Death, Eve must also find the killer of two accountants. A couple who were planning to get married has been killed and Eve and Peabody must find the killer. But will that case overlap with the missing person case? Read it and find out.
Recommendation?
This story is #23 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place right after Haunted in Death. This one has Mavis’s baby being born. I love the name of the baby!
