Brighton Rescue by Laraba Kendig

I kept right on with my Pride & Prejudice binge read with Brighton Rescue. This one starts after Lydia travels to Brighton, but before Elizabeth leaves for Derbyshire. The Bennets’ maid Sally discovers a letter to Kitty from Lydia. She brings it to Elizabeth and Jane’s attention, when she reads that Lydia is talking about eloping with Lt Wickham.

A quote from Brighton Rescue by Laraba Kendig

Elizabeth takes the letter to her father, who, as expected, does nothing and doesn’t believe that Lydia is in any danger. This causes Elizabeth no small amount of distress, knowing what she knows about Wickham from Mr Darcy’s letter. But when her aunt and uncle arrive, they believe Elizabeth. Without Elizabeth knowing, at least until they are in the carriage leaving, the Gardiners arrange not to go to Derbyshire, but instead they return to London so they can travel to Brighton.

Once the Gardiners and Elizabeth arrive in London, Mr Gardiner visits Mr Darcy for help. Mr Darcy insists on traveling to Brighton and helping them with Lydia and Wickham.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In Brighton Rescue, Darcy introduces the Gardiners and Elizabeth to Lady Amelia Hartford, who lives in Brighton. From there, lots of changes ensue.

Recommendation?

Brighton Rescue has many changes to canon, including Jane and Bingley’s story. This is a very good story. I highly recommend reading it. It is on Kindle Unlimited.
