I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Conspiracy in Death follows Midnight in Death. This one is one of my favorites of the series.
After learning about the series the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I have needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these.
Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a New York City homicide detective in 2059. Conspiracy in Death starts actually in the mind of the killer, but we don’t know who they are, other than that they think they are God. Dispatch sends Eve to the Bowery where a sidewalk sleeper died. Not that deaths of sidewalk sleepers are unusual in this area of town, but how this one died requires a detective. Snooks died because someone took an internal organ right out of him there on the street in his flop.
Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Conspiracy in Death, we meet two characters who will become series regulars- Officer Trueheart and Doctor Louise Dimatto. Plus, there’s a character who is out to get Eve and it’s not the killer. Will she be able to avoid what the character brings down or will she get involved in the conspiracy? Read it and find out!
This story is #8 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place after Midnight in Death and has some references to it. In this one, we learn what being a cop really means to Eve Dallas.

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!
