I’m not exactly sure how I found Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic. Maybe it was on one of my daily Kindle deals. But somehow I found it so I decided to read it.
Jade Godfrey owns a bakery. Okay, really, a cupcake shop. She’s a half-witch, half-human, who was raised by her grandmother. Her mother Scarlett jettisons around everywhere and never settles in one place. Jade’s magic presents in an unusual way. She can’t work spells. Instead, she dowses magic. Yes, that’s right. She can sense magic, even taste it.
Jade lives in Vancouver, which isn’t a locale full of Adepts (the word for people with magic).Yet, someone kills multiple magical people, including some werewolves. Suddenly, Jade’s bakery is a hotspot for magical activity. It all starts with a vampire.
Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic, Kett, the vampire, suspects that Jade might have something to do with the murders. But when she runs into the magic that caused the murders, she throws up because she can’t tolerate the black magic. Then the werewolves descend. Want to know what happens next? Just read it and see!
I’m so glad I found this one. I love stories like this. Magic has always captured my imagination and this one definitely does. Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic is free in the Kindle version.
