Romance Variations

Danger at the Netherfield Ball by Jann Rowland

Obviously, I continued right on with my Pride and Prejudice variations binge with Danger at the Netherfield Ball. (I’m telling you I’m not sure why I went through so many, but luckily most are on Kindle Unlimited.) This one, however, is no longer available on Kindle Unlimited.

This variation starts around the time that Elizabeth meets Lieutenant Wickham. After noting how Darcy looks at Elizabeth, Wickham determines that he’s going to stir up trouble between them. The key is figuring out how.

Mr Darcy thought over whether or not he should intervene and let everyone in Meryton know about Wickham. More to the point, he wondered if he should tell Elizabeth. He finally decided to tell her. In fact, when he did, he requested the first sets at the ball. He even convinced Mr. Collins to give up the first sets to him.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In Danger at the Netherfield Ball, all sorts of hijinks are happening at the ball. Will Elizabeth make it out okay or will the danger be too much?

Recommendation?

Danger at the Netherfield Ball is a short novella of only 147 pages. This one, alas, is not on Kindle Unlimited, at least not anymore. I do recommend it, especially for anyone looking for a quick read to finish their reading challenge for the month or year.

My plan for 2021 was to write a blog post for each book I read. This is the thirty-fourth book of December. Just six more- getting closer to the end…
