I couldn’t leave this wonderful world that Melinda Leigh created with Bree Taggert. So on I went to read Dead Against Her. This one has the murder of one of the deputies that Bree recently forced out of the department.
In the first chapter, we see the killer (without knowing exactly who the killer is) murder both Eugene Oscar, the former deputy, and his mother at his mother’s farm. But in the second chapter, the mother’s neighbor calls the sheriff for a wellness check, bringing Bree to the farm. After Bree picks the lock on the back door, she discovers the bodies.
During the course of the investigation, deepfake videos and edited nude pictures of Bree pop up. This leads to her handing the case over to BCI.
Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Dead Against Her, Bree and Matt must figure out what is going on and who is trying to hurt Bree’s reputation. Bree hires Morgan Dane to help her manage the PR around the fake videos and photos. But who did it all? Read it and find out.
Recommendation?
Dead Against Her is available on Kindle Unlimited. It’s the fifth in the Bree Taggert series. While this does connect to the Morgan Dane series (I mean, Morgan and Lance are even in this one), you don’t have to read that series first. If you’re a fan of mysteries and thrillers, you want to read this one!
