I’m not quite sure how I found Discouraging the Duke by Alexa Aston, but I’m glad I did. I fell for these characters and quickly read the rest of the series.

At the age of ten, five boys are banished from their homes, sent to live at Turner Academy. All five are the younger sons of dukes.
Discouraging the Duke is the story of Miles Notley. When he was ten, he was accused of killing his younger brother (although it was his older brother, who actually pulled the trigger). Thus, off he went to school away from his family. Miles joined the Army after completing school. Yet, several years later, when his older brother dies, Miles inherits the dukedom.

When Miles arrives at his ancestral home, he struggles to know what to do. After all, he never trained to become the Duke. That was his brother. At the estate, Emery Jenson’s parents work as part of the estate staff. Her father is the steward while her mother is the housekeeper. However, as her father’s mind grows weaker, Emery has taken over most of his responsibilities.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In the book Discouraging the Duke, Miles falls for Emery’s charm and confidence as well as her ability to run the estate. He determines that she alone will fit as his duchess, but she’s having none of it. Will she manage to discourage the duke or will he win her hand? Read and find out!
Recommendation?
This one is on Kindle Unlimited. It’s such a good story. The other boys are mentioned in this one, which leads into the next stories. I highly recommend this one if you are a fan of historical romances.

My plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. This is the last of my October books.
