Cozy Mystery

Guidebook to Murder by Lynn Cahoon

So I was in the mood for a mystery. I got this one I think through my daily email from BookGorilla with discounted books. I mean, don’t you kind of have to like one titled Guidebook to Murder? With the main character owning a bookstore, I thought it reminded me of the Death on Demand series.

A quote from Guidebook to Murder by Lynn Cahoon

Jill Gardner was a lawyer in San Francisco, who wanted out – out of her law practice and out of her marriage. She found this town called South Cove and fell in love, thanks to Miss Emily. So she packed up her bags and moved. Once there, Jill opened a bookstore/ coffee shop combo called Coffee, Books, and More.

Greg King is a detective for the South Cover police force. When Jill finds Miss Emily dead in her bed, Greg is called in to make sure that everything is above board.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In Guidebook to Murder, Jill is stunned to find Miss Emily dead. Then comes the reading of the will. Miss Emily had a nephew and his wife. Some small inheritance was left to them, but Jill got the bulk of it, including the house. There was lots more to be found too. Want to learn about it all? Read the book.

If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, then you should read this one. It’s very well written. This was the first in the series and I’m sure I’ll be back to read more. This one was wrapped up well enough that I didn’t feel like there were loose ends just waiting to be tied off later.
