Romance Variations

His Secret Betrothal by Renee McKenzie

I love Pride & Prejudice variations. Most have very similar tropes and couples. His Secret Betrothal has now moved up to the top of my favorite Pride and Prejudice variations as it is a unique approach to our favorite story.

This variation starts before canon does. The prologue shows Darcy climbing Oakham Mount to meet Elizabeth. We discover that they had met each other fifteen years ago at Pemberley, not long after Lady Anne Darcy died. Lizzy was able to bring joy to Darcy when she was 5 and Darcy was 13.

On Darcy’s 28th birthday, his solicitor summons Darcy to come to his office. Once there, Darcy discovers that his father signed a betrothal contract for him 15 years ago with Mr. Bennet. Now that Darcy is twenty-eight and unattached, he and Elizabeth must marry.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In His Secret Betrothal, how does Darcy react to discovering that his father signed a betrothal contract? How will Elizabeth, especially when Mr. Bennet convinces Darcy to only tell her once a month has passed?

This one is on Kindle Unlimited. If you like variations where canon is turned on its head, then you need to read this one. Expect to laugh while reading it.
