I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Imitation in Death follows Portrait in Death. This story has multiple suspects so not as easy to solve as some others.

After learning about the series the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I have needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these.

The prologue shows Jacie Wooten getting murdered, much like the victims of Jack the Ripper. The first chapter starts when Eve is called in when a note addressed to her is found at the scene. But the killer doesn’t stop there.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Imitation in Death, a serial killer replicates other serial killers, like Jack the Ripper and the Boston Strangler. Eve recognizes each signature, but will she be able to identify the killer from all the suspects?
Peabody gets her results from her exam, but forgot that would mean that she could be Eve’s aide no longer.
Recommendation?
This story is #17 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place right after Portrait in Death. There are several suspects in this one.

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!
