Innocent in Death by J. D. Robb

I finally got to the book in the In Death series, which is my least favorite- Innocent in Death. The first time I read it, I cried so hard that I try my best not to reread this one. It’s not so much the mystery that causes my upset. Instead, it’s how Roarke behaves in this one.

After learning about the series for the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these. But as this is my least favorite, I tried to put it off as long as I could.

Craig Foster is a teacher at Sarah Child Academy, which is a private school in New York City. Two young students (ten years old) walk into his classroom and find him on the floor, dead. Eve and Peabody arrive at the scene to investigate.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In Innocent in Death, Eve and Peabody must find the killer of the teacher before someone else gets killed. Meanwhile, Roarke’s old flame Magdelana arrives in New York and tries to stir up trouble. Of course, Roarke, being a man, does not see how her arrival impacts Eve. So will Roarke wake up or will our favorite couple be at odds? Will Eve find the killer when she’s thrown off her stride by things happening in her personal life?

Innocent In Death is NOT available on Kindle Unlimited. This story is #24 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. The killer in this one is someone that you might least expect. While each of these books could stand alone, it is better that you read them in order so you know the history between characters. Like I said before, this is probably my least favorite of the books, but this read wasn’t as bad as the first time I read it.
