On July 8th, Pippa Grant’s new book The Grumpy Player Next Door comes out. Since it’s part of the Copper Valley Fireballs series, I had to go back and reread the previous ones- starting with Jock Blocked. This was the first Pippa book I ever read!
I’ve read all of her books so I always pounce when a new one comes out. Are you new to Pippa Grant? Want to know the reading order? Check it out here.

Brooks Elliott- younger brother to Parker, who is the heroine of Stud in the Stacks. Also younger brother to Rhett, who is the hero of Hero and the Hacktivist. He’s a professional baseball player, who had been playing for his home team in New York before they traded him to the Fireballs.

Mackenzie Montana is probably the world’s biggest Fireballs fan. She ended took off work to follow the team to Spring Training in Florida. Mackenzie is all kinds of fired up about the fact that Lila axed the former mascot, Fiery. So much so that she started a save Fiery campaign. Mackenzie is best friends with Sarah, the heroine of America’s Geekheart.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Jock Blocked, Mackenzie steals what in her mind is the worst of the new mascot choices- a meatball. As she’s sneaking out with the costume (she’s in it), she runs into Brooks who is flirting with a cleaning lady. Now what Brooks doesn’t know is that Mackenzie knows his secret. Yes, that’s right. Parker spilled the beans and let everyone know that Brooks is a virgin. In fact, if he tries to round the bases with a gal, he freezes up on the baseball field.
So obviously, Makenzie totally cock blocks him. Thus the title Jock Blocked. But seriously this book is absolutely hysterical. Want to know what all happens? Read the book to find out! I mean you have to read just to find out how drag queens are related to Mackenzie.
Recommendation?
As with each of Pippa Grant’s books, Jock Blocked should only be read while not drinking (because you will spit out your drink) and definitely not in a library as you will bust out laughing. Don’t get in trouble with the librarians! If you like a sitcom, but in book form, this is the perfect book for you. If you like high humor, this is the book for you. Trust me, all of us need a little light hearted fun right now and this delivers. This one is on Kindle Unlimited and you should run to read it!

My plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. Last year, I read 150 books. While I’ve read 146, I’m very far behind on my blog posts so evidently I need to get cracking on that.
