I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Loyalty in Death follows Conspiracy in Death. Loyalty is an interesting addition to the series as other stories will have connections to it.

After learning about the series the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I have needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a New York City homicide detective in 2059. Loyalty in Death starts with a communique from “Cassandra” to her comrade, which led me to think Communism.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Loyalty in Death, Eve arrives at a murder scene where the killer sits there and calmly says that the victim screwed her over so she screwed him to the wall with his own drill. Yes, they both worked for a company that produces hardware tools. But how does this death figure into the Cassandra angle? Peabody’s brother shows up as well. Is he involved? Well, check it out and see!
Recommendation?
This story is #9 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place after Conspiracy in Death and has some references to it. In this one, we see that several of the New York landmarks have made it to 2059.

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!
