I’m not sure exactly how I found Nevermore Bookstore, but I think it was recommended in one of the book groups I’m in on Facebook. I had read Kerrigan Byrne’s historical romances so I figured I would try a contemporary one.

Cadence (Cady) Bloomquist owns a bookstore. She inherited it from her aunt. At least, she thinks so. But her inheritance is in question. The only thing keeping her going is her weekly phone calls to “Fox.”

“Fox” is a former military officer, who lives in the woods. He loves to read so he orders books from Cady weekly. They often talk about the books he reads that she sends him. But when he thinks that someone is going to hurt Cady, well, he comes down from the mountains.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Nevermore Bookstore, someone breaks into Cady’s bookstore. “Bob” helps Cady with the bookstore as she’s chronically ill and has problems with her back and hips. Bob is Fox. Cady realizes that Bob struggles with being inside so she helps him with that phobia. But who is breaking into Cady’s store?
Recommendation?
While I prefer Kerrigan Byrne’s historical books more, this one was a very good story. Both Cady and Fox had their issues. I enjoyed the mystery of what was going on with Cady’s bookstore. There are more stories in this series that I will be reading later.
