Romance Variations

Of Silver Linings and Glad Tidings by S. Neha

I love Pride & Prejudice variations. Most have very similar themes and couples. So when I read one that totally throws canon on its head (except for our dear couple of course), I’m either going to love it or hate it. Of Silver Linings and Glad Tidings is one that I love!

Julia Long is a friend of the Bennet sisters, but at the beginning of this one, Elizabeth overhears gossip about Julia being caught in a compromising position with her uncle’s clerk. Elizabeth doesn’t know who is being talked about so she frets that it could be Kitty or Lydia. As a result of Julie being sent away to Scotland, the Bennet sisters change.

When Bingley and Darcy arrive, each of the Bennet sisters is completely changed from canon. Their relationships with one another dramatically change to the point that Lydia refuses to be “out” at fifteen. While Bingley does admire Jane at first, that changes as time goes on. Jane, however, falls for someone else.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In Of Silver Linings and Glad Tidings, Elizabeth matures prior to meeting Darcy so she forgives the insult at the assembly earlier than in canon. There is not a lot of angst in this one. Mainly, it involves the relationships between the characters and how they are formed.

Recommendation?

This is on Kindle Unlimited. If you like Pride & Prejudice variations with little to no angst, then you’ll want to read this one. It is a longer variation (over 400 pages), but the changes to the sisters make this one worth the read.
