I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Origin in Death follows Survivor in Death. This book is one of my favorites as it introduces one of my favorite characters.

After learning about the series the first time back in 2001, I promptly read them all. At least, I read all of those books that had been released. But somewhere along the line, I stopped reading the current ones so I have needed to go back and read the series again. That’s why I’m re-reading these.

Eve and Peabody visit the Icove Center because they needed to interview a victim who had turned on her batterer and killed him. While there, they discover that the founder of the Icove Center was murdered.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Origin in Death, Eve and Peabody must find Dr. Icove’s killer. But while they are looking for that killer, they discover an even bigger mystery. How will this one end?
Recommendation?
This story is #21 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place right after Survivor in Death. This one is a very unusual case that brings in ethics.

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!

Oh, the Icove case! That was a very memorable read, and since it’s referred to in future books, it was a memorable write as well.
I’m always happy when I see someone else reading that series. I got my 75yr old mother hooked on it years ago and she rereads the series between new releases. I admit being a bit behind, mostly because I’ve been exploring classic-works other genres.
Enjoy your read, whatever you’re reading!
