I’ve been slowly rereading the In Death series, intermingled with other books. Remember When follows Imitation in Death, but this one is an unusual book. You see, the first half is written by Nora Roberts set in today (well, when it was written)’s time while the second half is written by J.D. Robb with Eve Dallas finishing up the mystery.

Part One is known as Hot Rocks and can be bought separately, but the complete story unfolds when you read both. Laine Tavish is the owner of Remember When, an antique shop in Angel’s Gap, Maryland. Her father is a con artist, Big Jack O’Hara. Unbeknownst to her, a long lost uncle leaves something for Laine in her shop, right before he leaves and is killed by car. Now there’s a mystery afoot. Will Laine and Max be able to figure it out?

Part Two is Big Jack. It’s during this part that Eve Dallas comes on the scene and solves the case. The diamonds that Laine and Max looked for are still being searched for. Now someone else decides that the diamonds will be his. Can Eve stop him and find the diamonds?

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)
In Remember When, two stories from different timelines collide and yes, Laine and Max show up in the second part. You can only imagine the interest that Roarke has in this one.
Recommendation?
This story is #17.5 of J.D. Robb’s In Death series. It takes place right after Imitation in Death. I have friends that this was their first introduction to JD Robb, but I definitely recommend starting at the beginning and working through the reading order.

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!
