The Body in the Backyard by Lucy Score

My friend Cari messaged me and told me that the ARC for The Body in the Backyard was available on NetGalley. Y’all, I can’t even explain how fast I got myself to my computer to grab a copy for myself! I mean, it doesn’t come out until July 16th. I had to get it because I couldn’t wait to read the next Riley Thorn book. As usual, Lucy Score had set this one up so well in the last book that this one just flowed right on from the events of the last one.

When the roof next door collapses, all of the elderly crew (Mrs. Penny, etc) move in with Riley and Nick. But if you remember the end of The Blast from the Past, Riley’s ex came and begged them to protect him. What is going on with him?

Even though Nick doesn’t really believe Griffin is in danger, they do need the money after he didn’t work for so many weeks. Griffin promises them a big payoff if they just find out who is trying to kill him. But when Riley, Mrs. Penny, and Nick put together a suspect list, it might have been better to create a list of who didn’t want to kill Griffin.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In The Body in the Backyard, Riley and Nick must keep Griffin safe, which is taxing since he’s such an over-the-top narcissist that he makes them want to kill him (me too honestly). But with a list of suspects miles long, who is actually the one behind it all?

The Body in the Backyard is the fourth book in the Riley Thorn series. It will be released on July 16th, 2024. This one will be on Kindle Unlimited and you should run to read it when it’s released! Lucy Score has said that she will continue to write as long as we keep asking for them so I can’t wait for the next one!

If you are looking for a serious mystery, don’t read this one. If you’re looking for something light-hearted and fun, then this is what you want!

My plan for 2022 is to write three blog posts a week- one about a fantasy book, one about a mystery book, and one about a romance book (with some posts about series thrown in). This one is a mystery (well, romance too) so if you’re a mystery lover, then you’ll want to check it out!
