The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

The last week of October, my Facebook group talked about The Book of Life- the last book of the All Souls Trilogy, which of course I had to read again. The first time reading this series, I got stuck during this book and didn’t finish it. I couldn’t see it clearly enough. But after watching the first season of the show, I had to go back and read the trilogy.

A quote from The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

Matthew and Diana have returned home. But life is not as it was. There have been losses. Diana is determined to get justice. But just as there are losses, there are also new souls to greet. Baby Margaret has arrived. Diana is also pregnant with twins!

But there are forces at work that are trying to drive Diana and Matthew apart. Whether it’s the Congregation, Baldwin, or Benjamin, there are plenty of people working against them. But they do have welcome faces from the past who arrive to help.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In the Book of Life, Matthew and Diana are still looking for the book. But they are also still trying to uncover the mysteries of the creatures. Why is Diana able to become pregnant with Matthew’s children? With the help of Diana’s best friend, Chris, they find out. Want to know more? Read it!

Recommendation?

Okay, so this was my THIRD time reading this one. I think it’s pretty safe to say this series slowly became a favorite of mine. I love how Deborah Harkness weaves the history in (can I just say I would love to be in her history classes as she’s a history professor?). The cast of characters are just incredible and make this a truly fun book to read, even if it takes longer to read than most books for me.

My plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. I’m almost finished with my October books…
