The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne

After reading Courting Trouble, I decided to go back to the beginning of the Victorian Rebels series and read The Highwayman. Oh, this is where I should have started from the beginning. Because I read Seducing a Stranger, I knew the plot twist that was coming in this one.

A quote from The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne

Farah Leigh Mackenzie meets Dougan Mackenzie as a young child. Both are in an orphanage together. It reminded me a little of the Val Kilmer movie “The Saint”, but Farah didn’t die like Agnes did. Farah and Dougan were together for two years. They handfasted in the chapel at the orphanage. BUT when the priest tries to kiss Farah (Dougan calls her “Fairy”), she runs to Dougan. They attempt to leave, but Dougan ends up killing the priest. So he’s sent to prison.

Dorian Blackwell meets Dougan Mackenzie in Newgate Prison. He’s charmed by stories of “Fairy”. When Dorian gets out of Newgate, he becomes known as the Blackheart of Ben More. Well, he and Dougan were known as the Blackheart brothers in Newgate.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In the book The Highwayman, Farah is working at Scotland Yard as a clerk. She poses as a widow, even though she is a virgin. Farah remains faithful to Dougan, although she knows that he died in Newgate. Dorian Blackwell sees Farah and kidnaps her to Ben More Castle. What happens? Read this one to find out!

Recommendation?

This one is not on Kindle Unlimited, but it’s well worth the price. A fabulous story with a twist toward the end that you might not see coming. There are sexy scenes in this one.

My plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. Last year, I read 150 books. We’ll see how I do this year.
