I decided to take a break from the fiction books and read a book that I’ve been meaning to read for a while–The One Thing: The Surprising Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results. Several people had recommended the book to me.
This book is divided up into three parts: The Lies, The Truth, and Extraordinary Results. It’s one of those books that you need to read over and over again to truly glean all the information. It won’t all sink in on the first read.
Unlike other books I’ ve read where they tell you to branch out, this book talks about focusing on your one thing. Quit trying to balance your life. It will never be balanced. Just focus on your one thing.
The One Thing is perfect for a team leader or manager who is looking for a book to study for their team. This book is full of quotes and snippets that are sure to get your point across. As The One Thing says, “The key is over time. Success is built sequentially. It’s one thing at a time.”
I liked this book a lot. I think I’ll be rereading it multiple times. It’s so full of great content that it will take a while to unpack it all. While normally with these types of books I question how to get started, this one laid it all out there to show us. I definitely recommend this book.

And in case you hadn’t figured it out, my plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. Last year, I read 150 books. We’ll see how I do this year.
