The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L Armentrout

Next up after A Shadow in the Ember is The War of Two Queens. This one goes back to Poppy and Casteel. They were separated at the end of The Crown of Gilded Bones. So I was dying to find out what happened.

With Cas and Poppy being apart, I wondered how the author would approach the book and if we would see it from both of their perspectives. Well, we do. We see what happens with both of them, which I love. Poppy tries to figure out a way to free Casteel from Isbeth, her mother.

Poppy feels her way through planning the war. She gets help from Kieran, who is still with her. They decide to attack some of the outer cities, but they are letting the mortals know that the attack is coming so they can leave.

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In The War of Two Queens, Poppy and Kieran work together to rescue Casteel. But Poppy is still going through the Culling. What will happen? Will Poppy be able to overthrow her mother?

I’m not sure how Jennifer Armentrout does it, but she’s built an incredible world and she keeps adding to it. The twists just keep coming. We learn more about the prophecy in this one. My friend Cari and I have been reading this together and we’ve had to have conversations, trying to break down the prophecy. If you’re a fan of fantasy, you REALLY need to read these!
