The Witness by Nora Roberts

I’ve been checking out Scribd with its free trial. So I started to listen to The Witness by Nora Roberts. I’m not a huge fan of audio books. With this, I discovered why. The audio takes 16 hours to listen. I read this in less than six. Of course I have read this one before (multiple times as it’s my favorite of Nora’s stand alones).

Elizabeth Fitch is a sixteen year old girl attending Harvard. Yes, she’s a genius. She’s on her way to med school after following her mother’s precise instructions for Elizabeth’s life. Yet, Elizabeth yearns to rebel so she does. After an argument with her mother, she cuts her hair and dyes it black. She runs into an acquaintance from high school and proceeds to go clubbing the next night. But then she witnesses a murder- two, in fact. What does she do?

Brief Summary (while trying not to give everything away)

In The Witness, the first section is about Elizabeth and what she goes through at age 16 in Chicago. Then, it fast-forwards about twelve years. The story picks up with Brooks. What happens when a runaway witness falls for a perceptive cop? Read it and see!

This is my absolute favorite of Nora Roberts’s stand alone books. I love the character of Elizabeth and all her quirks. Brooks is so lovable. That is especially true of his family. If you like romantic suspense, this one is for you!

My plan for 2021 is to write a blog post for each book I read. Last year, I read 150 books. We’ll see how I do this year.
